Frankly speaking, many people suffer from allergies or sensitive reactions due to chemical additives in commercial cosmetics, and to name some; synthetic fragrances and parabens are actually on the list.
- Synthetic Fragrances can cause dizziness, rashes, headaches, and/or skin irritations in susceptible individuals. And;
- Parabens (methyl, butyl, propyl, ethyl) are used to inhibit microbial growth to extend the shelf life of the product.
In reality, we don't really know what we are putting on to our delicate skins, or to our hair because we're not chemistry experts.
- Read the label on any product that you are thinking of purchasing - ***note: the first ingredient listed on any label is the most active component used in making the product.
- Commonly you will find that the first listed on any label are; water, mineral oil, alcohol and witch hazel. As you can see, none of it is expensive, nor helpful in certain situations. --- Alcohol and witch hazel are too drying for some skin types, while mineral oil are large molecules that can clog the skin's pores. The prize of the products only became high due to advertising, packaging, and other additives.
- Visit a natural foods store (a pro-natural or herbal store where you can save your money), the price is actually high but more rational than buying a commercial product.
